More reasons: niece and rest of family visiting, holiday parties, work responsibilities, visiting friends (hi, Lisa), and sometimes, just sometimes, staring out my big picture window looking at the trains and cars and people. The people are the best - jogging, shopping, playing, laughing, arguing. A few weeks ago, as I was getting ready to step into my building, I heard a couple arguing. She was in a red coat, tall and blond. He was tall, with brown-hair, and hunched into a miserable "yes, I'm listening," posture. And she said, "I just don't feel like we are connected, and why don't you......" I didn't hear the rest because I am not that into evesdropping, and besides, I wanted to go upstairs and crash. Poor things. He looked really miserable.
I think December is just not a good time for blogging. Holidays, families, year-end rush, all stuff of the real physical realm. January and February seem like better opportunities for connecting with the virtual community.
This month I've seen a fair of New Yorkers fighting on the streets, restaurants, lobbies, etc. Morcheeba invites us to sing, "What Do New York Couples Fight About?" but as far as I can tell, it's nothing particularly glamorous or special.

Nick, I think taking blog breaks is a good way not to get burnt out on blogging. Not that I'm burnt out or anything :)
