Baby K is now toddler K and we love, love, love her. She talks now! She says hi and moo (for cow) and mommy and da and baa (for sheep) and then: I wub youuuu. How freakin' cute is that?

I believe the technical term is "Pretty Freakin Cute."
Madhu, I love all living creatures (even admire bugs) and love cats but years ago would have classed myself as a dog person. Now that I am home all the time, I have become a cat person. When I touch a cat, I get a different more close and connected feeling than when I stroke a dog - nowadays I can tell more what a cat is thinking and feeling, than a dog. It used to be the other way round.
My wish for you this Christmas is that you treat yourself to a pet. A clever little dog that you could take to work and it could sleep all day in a basket under your desk. You could take breaks and get out of the office and into the fresh air perhaps a little more often than you normally would.
People ought to be allowed to take their pets to work, or when they go into hospital or nursing homes etc. They say stroking a pet is good for your health and reduces stress and worry. Commuting to work would be much more fun. Lots more people would converse. I've noticed when out walking dogs, people smile, say hi and stop to talk a lot more. Seems one is more approachable with a pet.
Then you could do some dog blogging and post pictures (have you used Flickr - it's free and real easy to use - you can email the pictures straight to your blog - if I can use it, you'd have no trouble in understanding it - it's really quick)
Here's guessing your reply: "Nice idea, I'd love a dog, but impractical re where work and live."

Ingrid, I hate to tell you this: but I am a dog person!
I agree, though, that Opelia is lovely.
