R called and said baby K (who is now actually toddler K) has new favorite toy. It is a toy broom. "She loves sweeping up. Just loves it. She'll cry if you try to take it away from her."
"Well," I said, "All you need is a toy mop and a toy bucket and you guys are set for life. Cleanliness is next to Godliness"
"Very funny. Very funny," says R.
Hey, I bet she'd love a toy vacuum cleaner (this one will actually pick up some dirt, without having so much suction as to be a safety hazard:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004YSYQ/qid=1085378230/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-0660528-4465541?v=glance&s=toys)
Rowan went through a stage where he loved brooms, too. There's something fascinating about being able to control something at a distance (in this case the other end of a stick). Around the same time he really loved having a stick horse (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000053HBZ/104-0660528-4465541?v=glance).
Oh, here are some of those toy links I told you about last week:
http://www.schylling.com/
http://www.constplay.com website isn't so great, but the paper catalog is amazing
Hanna Andersson has pricey but incredibly durable pajamas: http://www.hannaandersson.com/
http://www.magiccabin.com/ Magic Cabin Dolls has lovely soft dolls and toys for pretend play.
http://www.onestepahead.com has a lot of practical (and not-so-practical) baby gadgets, especially travel and safety gear. Evan (like many gadget-oriented dads) is obsessed by this catalog.
