I remember taking linear algebra in college. My professor told me "If you can solve the proofs and theorems, why do you have trouble with the matrix problems?" Dear professor, I do not know. Calculus - easy for me. Algebra - not. Physical chemistry - easy for me. Organic chemistry - not. The way my crazy floaty 3D brain works (ok visualizes because everything is visual for me, I am a pathologist after all) makes the proofs sensible and the application of the proof a sheer pain. Anyway, I never listened to my professors. I always assumed I could do anything I set my mind to, which always got me into a boatload of trouble.
