Today spring is in the air. The bookshops have pushed little carts full of books out onto the sidewalks, as sure a sign of mid urban spring as there is. I went to the Japanese bakery and bought An Pan and japanese donuts with bean paste. They are dusted with sugar and the bread is lightly fried with a delicate crust. Soft and chewy. Not the least bit oily. You bite into them and the bean paste fills your mouth - smooth and bland and slightly sweet. Filling for a filling. Off now.
