Sent another e-mail letter to the editor of the _______. Still saw nothing in the paper on the story they should be covering. Will continue to e-mail everysingleday until they do a proper article on the topic (won't go into it here. I intend this blog to be light-weight and silly and it's, like, my dime ok?) I started the letter thusly:
To whom it may concern: Great article on Friends in the Arts and entertainment section. Very cutting edge. Now how about.........
Democracy. It's interactive, right?
Heh. You make me laugh, emailing them everysingleday :-)

Oh, c'mon!!!
Pleeeeeez!
It would be awesome if you posted your emails that you send to them.
I mean, some of my favorite things on the Internet are complaints, like Yours Is A Very Bad Hotel or Attrition.org vs. Chick-Fil-A.

oops, no links: Attrition. org: http://www.attrition.org/postal/z/legal/chick-fil-a/chick-fil-a-002.txt
The utterly hysterical Yours Is A Very Bad Hotel:

Thanks Ingrid. Maybe I will?
Lisa - apparently, that is a very bad hotel :)

My local paper also has been dilenquent with their UNSCAM coverage. I typed "food for oil scandal" in their site search, and got three hits.
One was a story of a FOOD FOR LESS shopkeeper who is politically active against offshore OIL drilling.
Another was the link to the shopkeepers story.
The third, finally a 300 word essay on how Kofi Anon is being so helpful in finding Saddam's corruption.
No mention of media being suspected of accepting bribes from the UN or Saddam, so I mentioned it in my own e-mail to the editor. I asked him if their lack of coverage had anything to do with their management getting some Oil Vouchers.

You and me both, sister. I wrote the following to the Public Editor of my paper (the AJC), and have gotten no response either:
"Look, I am sure that you guys have to be careful not to play into what you perceive as conservative conspiracy theories. But I was wondering, except for the ironically titled ironically titled William Safire column “Cover-up of oil-for-food scandal continues”, that it seems like you guys have not really been paying to much attention to the ongoing U.N. Oil For Food scandal?
Or is this just another example of what you guys said was the skepticism of the U.N. “fed by the Bush administration's own past rhetoric”?
Seriously, even the N.Y. Times has had at least one news article on this (http://www.nytimes.com/2004/04/22/international/middleeast/22CND-NATI.html?ex=1083297600&en=137136db1886ecb8&ei=5062&partner=GOOGLE), so what gives?"
Maybe I should try a letter a day just for the fun of it.

Nice work! Keep up the emails! I'm having the same experience with the Philadelphia Inquirer; not a word, even when Volcker was hired. But there was a whole piece on the Beluga Sturgeon!

Papertiger, blindpig and Eric: interesting that we are all having the same experiencies. Sort of bonding, isn't it?
I think we should keep e-mailing everyday. Maybe not even about the 'scandal'. How about e-mails enquiring about the journalists general health, interesting recipes and 'daily meditations' (very Oprah). I mean, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

I am on board with writing a letter a day. I posted my second one at blog, http://blingpig.blogs.com, if you want to take a look.

Well, my paper finally had an article about Oil for Food. You can view my post about it here:
